Best Poster Awards at Battery 2030+


EERA JP ES Presents Best Poster Awards to PhD Candidates at Battery 2030+ as Part of SP1 Activities

During the Battery 2030+ Annual Conference held in Turin, Italy, the EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage (JP ES) proudly celebrated early-career scientific excellence by presenting the Best Poster Awards. Coordinated directly through our Sub-Programme 1 (SP1) initiatives, these distinctions recognize outstanding research quality and exceptional technical communication in electrochemical storage solutions.

The evaluation committee selected two PhD candidates for the quality of their research presentations and technical delivery:

First Prize: Best Pitch Speech

Winner: Silvan Stuckenberg (Universität Münster / MEET Battery Research Center)
"Ultralong Cycling of Li-Metal Cells Enabled by Aromatic Diluents in Localized High-Concentration Electrolytes"

Presentation Highlights: Outlined fundamental strategic pathways to mitigate high reactivity, safety concerns, and electrolyte degradation challenges typical of lithium-metal battery architectures.

Second Prize: Poster Presentation

€100 Prize
Winner: Daniele Callegari (University of Pavia)
"Functionalized SiO₂ Nanoparticles as HF Scavengers for Novel Separators in Li-ion Batteries"

Presentation Highlights: Presented a co-authored, multifunctional three-layer separator designed to capture acidic species, suppress transition-metal dissolution, and enhance capacity retention during extended cycling.

Supporting development opportunities for early-stage researchers remains a central pillar of the SP1 roadmap. By highlighting breakthrough electrolyte and materials research alongside collaborative frameworks like Battery 2030+, EERA JP ES continues to foster a resilient innovation pipeline for sustainable European battery technologies.
