Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico - RSE S.p.A. (RSE) Battery Laboratories Research Infrastructure (RSE-BatLabs-RI) consists in laboratories covering various stages of the battery research chain: synthesis and sintering of advanced materials, characterization of materials, cell prototype production, test of cells, modules and battery packs.
State of the art: Provided with conventional and peculiar equipment to produce advanced materials and cells and with multi-scale instruments to characterize and test materials and different sizes of storage devices, from cells to battery packs.
Services currently offered by the infrastructure: synthesis/sintering of advanced materials with different techniques (e.g. Spark Plasma Sintering), material processing (e.g. etching) and characterization (e.g. SEM, EIS, XPS), cells production (coin, Swagelok, pouch), performances characterization and aging tests on cells and modules; abuse tests; development and validation of electrical and thermal models of batteries and of aging models (both empirical and data driven); development of SOC, SOE, SOH estimators; design, development and test of innovative BMS; post-mortem analysis.
